We have a couple of family traditions around our house when it comes to Christmas. One of those traditions is adding a new nativity scene to our collection. There is just something special about being surrounded by lots of different nativity scenes.
I almost always wait until after Christmas when they put everything on sale to seek out the nativity scene for the following year. Last year, we looked and looked yet we were unable to find a nativity scene. I was beginning to think that we wouldn’t be adding a new nativity scene to our collection. It seems that each year finds the stores carrying fewer and fewer religious based products. Well, a couple of weeks (or so) after Christmas, we headed into Michaels to pick up a few supplies that we needed. We decided to browse through the leftover, marked down Christmas items. We were rather surprised when we saw a nativity scene. We looked over it to make sure it was all okay, and much to our delight, all the pieces were in great condition. It was marked down at least 75%, so it ended up coming home with us.
Because we are ending up not being home much this December, we decided not to get out all of the normal decorations or put up the big Christmas tree. This year, we’re keeping things very simple with a small 3 foot pre-lit Christmas tree and the nativity set that we picked up last year. We may end up putting out a few things outside other than the wreath that is already hanging on the porch column, but even those would be more low-key than usual. Oh, they’ll be some decorations and ornaments that Munchkin will make to be hung around, but overall, it’s a pretty simple Christmas for us this year.
Merry Christmas to you and yours 🙂

I honestly don’t know. If I had them out, I would count them up. I’m guessing between 12 and 15, but there may be more. I just love having them all over the place in the house. 🙂
wow!! 🙂 I love the fact that Ive learnt something new about you after our many years of being online friends 🙂
