Ecover takes pride not only in their natural, eco-friendly products, but also in the way that they produce and package those products. They were awarded a spot on the UN Roll of Honour for combining commerce with conscience. Their liquid products come packaged in 100% PlantPlastic bottles. These new bottles are 100% recyclable and 100% renewable. They are made from sugarcane instead of corn or petrochemical-based plastics.
The products themselves are made from plant-based and mineral ingredients. They have no artificial fragrances or perfumes. They are biodegradable and phosphate free. They do not do any animal testing.
I received the Ecover Zero Natural Laundry Powder to test out. I personally try to have all fragrance free laundry products, so I was pleased with the zero laundry line from Ecover. Some natural laundry detergents work better than others, so I was interested to see how it would work for both our regular laundry as well as my husband’s really dirty, smelly laundry.
My first test was with our normal laundry. I found that it worked well in warm water, but not as well in cold water. The clothes came out clean and smelling fresh with no fragrance. The next task – which is difficult for many laundry detergents – was my husband’s work clothes and workout gear. Due to the grease and heavy odor, getting this set of clothes clean is often quite difficult. It took more than one wash to get this set of clothes clean. To be fair, we have the same result with many other detergents, so this isn’t unique to the Ecover brand.
Overall, I was impressed with the Ecover Zero Natural Laundry powder. I would be interested to see if the liquid detergent worked better with cold water as I do like to use cold water with certain loads of laundry. Head over to print out your Ecover coupon.
