My Dogs’ Crazy Obsessions

Posted in Family, and Photography

Dogs Eating Acorn Squash

Some dogs are obsessed with bones or meat. My dogs? Well, they’re obsessed with fruits and veggies. As soon as someone starts eating an apple, they come very close and start staring. They want that apple. If they see me peeling sweet potatoes, they go crazy. I use raw sweet potatoes as treats when they need to go to their crates. (They are crated when we leave the house for their safety and the safety of our house.) Squash, lettuce, tomatoes, citrus fruit… We have yet to see a veggie or fruit they didn’t like.

Wiley Digging a Hole

Another obsession which isn’t quite as cute is digging. They both love to dig, and dig, and dig, and dig… Sometimes, Wyatt will jump in the hole they’ve dug and just rest. Wiley does not like that, so he’ll try to dig him out of the hole. One of their favorite digging past times is digging up animal holes/mounds in our yard. At times, it looks like they’re trying to escape, but no, they just like to dig. I guess it’s a good thing that our backyard is just sand/dirt and rocks. lol!

Wyatt Standing on Table

Wyatt, crazy little dog that he is, loves jumping up on the table in the backyard. Originally, he was jumping onto one of the chairs and then onto the table. Now, he just jumps right up onto the table. Did I mention that he’s a really good jumper? They both are for that matter. Nothing is safe from these two.

Playing Tug-of-War

They enjoy playing tug-of-war outside with whatever they get their mouths on. Sometimes (like pictured) they use a toy, but most often, they find roots, sticks, pieces of paper… and start chasing each other and playing tug-of-war with whatever they have found in the yard. They usually end up tumbling around and “wrestling” during these play sessions.

Dogs Eating Ice Cubes

I’m sure they have other quirky obsessions, but the final one that I can think of today is their love of ice cubes. I’ll fill up a bowl with ice cubes and set it outside for them. They have a grand time eating and playing with the ice cubes.
