I See Cards: Fractazmic

Posted in Reviews

From the maker of the award winning game Pyramath™ comes a brand new game – Fractazmic™.  Fractazmic™ is a card game that helps children learn to use fractions while playing a game.  Each deck includes 60 brightly colored math cards.  While playing the game, players will learn to convert and add fractions. The game helps reinforce the relationship between fractions and measurements through the use of fractions in real life situations. The Fractazmic™ deck has three suits in three different colors: sixteenths (red): 1/16, 1/8, 3/16, 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 7/16, and 1/2 twelfths (blue): 1/12, 1/6, 1/4, 1/3, 5/12, and…

Kick-Start Fitness: Week 1 & Natural House Giveaway

Posted in Fitness

Kick-Start Fitness TeamFor the month of December, I’ve teamed up with 9 other bloggers to form the Kick-Start Fitness Team.  As a team, we will be blogging our way through getting fit and/or staying fit through the month of December, so we can end this year and start the new year on a positive fitness note.  We’re going to be encouraging each other and our readers by posting every Friday on the previous week’s fitness activities.  The great thing about the Kick-Start Team is that we’re all on different fitness levels, and we’re all approaching our own fitness challenges differently.  As an added bonus, we’ll be having some fun health/fitness related giveaways along the way.  We’re working on having at least one giveaway each week.

Treadmill

Unfortunately for me, my first week did not go as planned thanks to a stomach bug.  Bleck!  Prior to this week, I had been off Dr. Pepper for 2 weeks which was a great accomplishment.  Sadly, I needed something to settle my stomach, so I have been drinking it this week.  Once I’m feeling better, I plan on giving it up again until I no longer have the desire to drink it regularly.

While the week may not have gone as planned, I was able to get regular walking in whether outside or inside.

  • Monday: I had quite a few errands to run, so while I was out and about, I purposefully found parking spots that required me to walk.  I ate some fruits and veggies as my stomach allowed.  I continued to drink water to avoid dehydration.
  • Tuesday: I had a bad day due to illness, so I didn’t get much done when it came to exercise other than household cleaning/chores.  I munched on fruits and veggies.  I continued to drink water.
  • Wednesday: I was able to get a bit more done today.  I used the treadmill for walking in the morning.  I munched on fruits, veggies, and a little raw milk cheese.  I continued to drink water.
  • Thursday: I, once again, used the treadmill in the morning.  I was starting to feel a little better, so I actually started to eat some light meals in addition to my snacking on fruits and veggies.  I continued to drink water.
  • Friday: I plan on using the treadmill today.  If I’m feeling up to it, I’ll start adding in more exercise using either the Wii or the xbox 360 – Kinect.  Snacks will include fruits and veggies.  I plan on baking sugar cookies today, so I’ll have to limit how many I eat as cookies are one of my favorite sweet treats.  I’m going to gradually add more water into my routine.

What I need to work on this next week…  The biggest thing that I need to work on is getting more sleep.  I also need to drink more water.

My Fitness Tip or Trick for this week: Even if you’re not feeling well, try to eat at least a little something that is healthy, and make sure that you’re getting enough fluids into your system.  Go for a walk and get some fresh air to help you feel a little better.

While it’s very important to exercise and eat right, another part of fitness is maintaining a healthy home which means making sure you’re using cleaning products that won’t make you, your family, or your pets sick.  So today I’m featuring a giveaway for Natural House Probiotic Cleaning Products.  The Giveaway is open to US residents and ends next Friday 12/30.

Natural House Probiotic Cleaning Products

Natural House

Natural House probiotic cleaning products were born out of a need seen by a new mom.  She wanted her house to be free of all those ucky chemicals while still maintaining a clean, healthy home. The Natural House products are phosphate/APE-free, eco-firendly, non-toxic and biodegradable. They do not use any genetically modified (GM) bacteria. While their products are safe for the home, family, and pet, they also provide commercial grade cleaning strength.  Another plus, they do not have a harsh, over-powering fragrance.

I admit that we’ve had quite a few flops when it comes to natural cleaning products at our house.  Yes, we’ve found some good ones over the years since we’ve moved to more natural products in our home, but it’s been a process.  While I love testing out new products, I do tend to be a bit leery as I never know if they’ll actually work.  In this case, the hesitancy was completely unfounded…

Our first test was the Sinky Disposal Scrubber and Drain Maintenance. Each package contains 4 individual packets. Every week, you take one of the packets and toss it into the drain, run hot water over it for a few seconds, and watch the foaming action go to work. (If you have a garbage disposal, you’ll also run the disposal.) The foaming action is great as there is something satisfying about seeing the product working before your eyes. The great thing is that Sinky continues to work throughout the week (no, it doesn’t keep foaming all week long). We were impressed as it really did make the sink/drain/disposal smell better.

Next up was the Flushy Toilet Bowl Cleaner and Septic Treatment. Once again, the package contains a 30 day supply of individual packets. When you toss the packet into the toilet, you immediately see the blue foaming action. It makes cleaning toilets easier, and it allows you to clean the toilets less frequently due to the ongoing cleaning action of the probiotics in the packets. Love that! I’m also pleased to see the some of our “ring around the toilet” is going away the longer we use the Flushy.

Our final product was Trashy Trash Can Deodorizer and Scrubber. This is an easy to use, fresh smelling spray. I put this product to the ultimate test by using it on an extremely stinky outside trashcan. I honestly didn’t think it would work, but much to my surprise, it worked! With the first application, the “stank” factor dropped dramatically. Now, our outside trashcan only stinks if the trash that’s put into it stinks. Yep, it really worked. We have also used it on our kitchen trashcan to keep it fresh. As you can tell, this was my absolute favorite product.

All of the Natural House probiotic cleaning products worked as described. They are a great healthy alternative to some of the harsh chemical cleaners on the market, and they make cleaning some of the more difficult areas of the home just a little bit easier.

Natural House priobiotic cleaning products can be purchased through the Natural House website or through Amazon.  You can keep up-to-date on Natural House products by following them on Facebook and Twitter.

Thankful Thursday: Surgery Recovery Update

D met with the military “board” yesterday.  We are now cautiously optimistic about D’s future in the military.  We were given some hope that due to his rank and job that he’ll be able to continue being a Marine, and he could make it to retirement.  They were pleased to see how well he was doing already.  He has rough days especially when he does too much, but recovery is going well.  We still have a long road ahead, and things could change in an instant. We gave this whole situation to the Lord and trusted that He would provide…
