Project 365 – #202
Remember that trail sign that I posted yesterday? Well, we thought we were going down the easy way, but it turns out we were wrong. Because D’s activities are soooo limited right now, I ended up doing a lot of hiking to scout out the trail ahead as well as spotting as we went through some crazy areas. D enjoyed himself, but he would have been much happier to go through this particular area at a time when he was feeling 100%. He felt a bit guilty that I was doing so much scouting and spotting with the temps being well over 100 degrees that day. We made it through the difficult patches with some good coordination between the driver (D) and the spotter (me). Munchkin and “puppy” were happy to be along for the ride.
The good news is that I was able to get a lot of pictures of D wheeling which is enabling him to see how his truck works at different angles and under different circumstances. Needless to say, he had fun analyzing the different shots to see what he could do to make his truck perform better. A man and his truck… what can I say???
Due to the desert landscape, the pictures do not do the trail justice. It was much more intense than any of the pictures portray. I did my best to capture some of the fun moments. What you don’t see in the bigger picture is the huge drop on D’s side of the vehicle. Because of flash floods, the terrain gets washed out in many areas. You never know if you’ll get to a point where the road is completely washed out. Thankfully, that was not an issue for us.
That is something my husband would love to do someday. We used to own a jeep and had so much fun in it!
Oh my! Looks like fun!
neat photos 🙂
What fun! I envy your family how outdoorsy you all are! Even with everything D’s gone through lately. We have been hiking a teeny bit this summer and I’m proud of myself:) BUT, I’d love to do stuff like this. Btw, Chris DID get a jeep–it was used and he is soooo happy (it was def. a midlife crisis kind of thing). I would post pictures, but he doesn’t want his Mom & Dad to know, as they would say the fous was much better on gas…lol. I’m glad my parents are more laid back! Anyway, remember when he didn’t get that first Jeep? He wanted it so badly and it didn’t work out–I sat in that one and it was Super uncomfortable. But, the one he got is actually pretty comfortable! Now, maybe I’ll let him take the door off…not sure. i like a convertible, but the door being off scares me!
