Spyplane Films presents:
Upside
Solomon “Soli” White is a high school senior who seems to have everything going for him. He’s been offered athletic scholarships by several top schools. Suddenly, everything he knows is flipped upside down, literally, when a collision during a game leaves him suffering from severe headaches and inverted vision.
As Solomon tries to come to grips with his new reality, he is also faced with many life-altering decisions. While at a therapy session to learn how to cope with his new disability, Soli meets Wren, a young lady who has been blind since birth. Her view of life and faith draw Soli to her. As he gets to know her, he starts to learn more about himself.
***Possible spoiler alert in this portion of the review***
D and I thought this movie was interesting. While Wren’s faith does play a role in her outlook in life, it is not the center of her life. She has no problem dating Soli even though he does not share her faith. This film has Christian undertones, but faith and Christianity are not at the forefront of the film. Soli’s teacher was willing to step out on a limb and risk her job in order to share her faith with Soli. The main theme of this movie was more about Soli finding himself and figuring out what he believed instead of listening to others.
