Munchkin wanted to work on her cake decorating skills, so we decided to ask her friend to join us. This morning, Munchkin went with her friend and her family to see a movie while I baked some cakes and cupcakes and prepared the frosting for the cake decorating class.
After lunch, the girls started working on some basic skills. I covered some cardboard with aluminum foil to give them a space to practice using different decorating tips. While they were practicing, they had fun taste testing the frosting. Pretty soon, they decided that they had tasted enough frosting. **grin**
While they look very serious in the pictures, I assure you that they were having a great time practicing their techniques together. Smiles and laughter were in great supply. Somehow, I managed to capture the more serious expressions as they concentrated on what they were doing.
Each girl decorated their own mini cake and four cupcakes. After several hours of decorating fun and laughter, the girls boxed up their creations. (I had purchased some cute bakery boxes on clearance a few months ago to make this a little more fun for the girls.)
The girls said they had a great time. Hopefully, they learned something along the way. (They were on a bit of a sugar high and a little too giggly to know for sure. lol!) Mommy ended up exhausted and took a little nap once Daddy got home. We’ve made plans to have another baking day in the future. Next time, the girls will learn to bake a cake and make the frosting. Then, they will do the decorating.
Great job! Those are adorable!! 😀
