Lest We Forget…

Lest We Forget – Their Sacrifices Made

Your destiny was fixed and carved in marble stone.
Your fate changed time to an instant of thought,
To save lives beyond that of your own.
So when History calls,
Time echoes the stories of the cost.
Thus, we attentively join in praise and hymns to salute the memories of the lost.

Oh lest we forget all the sacrifices made,
Lest we forget why our freedom here still reigns,
The price you paid to prevail against hate and tyranny.
Lest we forget our smile is enjoyed because of you,
So I pray the Matchless Lord will see your spirit through,
And give your soul the peace of the honoured few,
Or lest with unthinkable shame we forget.

Your faith in Truth and happiness,
Inspires a hope that commands us to believe.
You dared to stand despite the fear of your end,
To guard the values of life and liberty.
You knew not why, you knew not when,
But when the Battle cried out you answered the hero’s call.
So for this reason I proclaim to those who hear the memory of it all.

Oh lest we forget why our children freely play today,
Lest we forget the indelible need to bond and pray,
Cause the fight for peace extends beyond just you, and just me.
Lest we forget the wealth of treasures of your memories,
Is now etched in burial stone for all to see,
Which is in remembrance of the Forgotten’s tearful plea, remember me,
Lest we forget.

So with a solemn sigh I say to your spirit nigh,
Though we will never meet, and you’ll never see my smile,
You’ll never know my name, or how your life affected mine.
As the heavens bear witness I thank you for the time you gave
Though brief as it may be,
I welcome to my heart your story, your memory.

For I will not forget your sacrifices made,
I will not forget why my freedom here remains,
For, it is this price you and your comrades have paid, to battle hate and tyranny.
So I dare not forget why my smile is linked to you,
I pray my Heavenly Father will bless your spirit through,
And give your soul the peace of the honoured few,
Lest I forget.

I, Jerome V. Chambers Jr. salute the brave men and women, who lead the fight for freedom.
