Circle C Adventures: Trouble with Treasure

Trouble with TreasureAndrea Carter and the Trouble with Treasure
by Susan K Marlow

When innocent horseplay temporarily lands Andi and her friends in jail, they decide that a trip into the mountains will leave their troubles far behind. Accompanied by big brother Mitch and armed with a map showing old gold diggings, they can’t wait to strike it rich. What could be better than two weeks of camping and horseback riding? But instead of gold they find trouble…

While I have heard to the Circle C Adventures series, I had never read any of the other books. I was concerned that I would be a little lost since this was the 5th book in the series. I was glad to find this was not the case. While things would have made a bit more sense if I would have had the “rest of the story”, I was able to enjoy the book. I appreciated the little introduction letter from Andi at the beginning of the book. Andi introduces herself and tells a little of her back story. The letter helps fill in a few gaps without giving away too much information from the previous books in the series.

Trouble with Treasure is a fun, quick read, but it does contain some subjects that may be difficult for some kids. There are gun fights that lead to death and injury. While this was not something that would keep me from allowing Munchkin to read the book, I did want to point that out. I personally felt the darker subjects were handled tastefully, but I know that some kids do not handle death and injury well.

Munchkin really enjoyed the book and wants to be able to read the other books in the series. She liked that it was a fun, Christian book series. Once she got into the book, she wanted to complete it, so she could find out what happened next.

  1. Thanks for your encouraging words about TWT. I sure enjoyed writing the book. Always wanted to do one up in the mountains, which I do love. It’s nice to give the hints about the western-type gun-play. One never knows. My DD was NEVER going to let her little boys play with guns. Right. She was fighting a losing battle when she brought the 2-year-old over to visit, and his uncles, at about 11 and 9 played shooting Star Wars guns all over the house. When her little one started making guns out of his sandwich crusts, she knew she’d lost that battle. Now that she has six kids going on seven, she’s about given up on all that stuff. LOL
Again, thanks for taking the time to review TWT.
    In Christ,
