Entreat me not to leave you,
Or to turn back from following after you;
For wherever you go, I will go;
And wherever you lodge, I will lodge;
Your people shall be my people,
And your God, my God.
Where you die, I will die,
And there will I be buried.
The Lord do so to me, and more also,
If anything but death parts you and me.
~Ruth 1:16-17
As I was reading through Ruth for the 90 Day Bible Reading Challenge, I was once again struck by the dedication of Ruth to her mother-in-law Naomi. She didn’t have to stay with her, but she chose to live her life in a way that was above what was expected of her. For her dedication, she was richly blessed by the Lord.
This made me think about how many times that I’ve done just the minimum or just enough to get by with various things in my life. Was this truly honoring God? Or was I falling short? Ruth is a wonderful example of going above just what is expected, of striving to do our very best in everything. It is only by truly doing our best that we are honoring the Lord.

I love the story of Ruth. Especially that part….she could have chosen something different yet she stayed.
Beautiful.
Happy WFW
I have so been trying to do this…It is so hard sometimes!!;) I am trying to pray more and to think about how my light shines before others and if it is really pleasing in Gods sight!! I have a lot to work on but I am at least trying!! Have a great day…Blessings from Georgia!
amen. So true, and yet so hard to do sometimes!
Ruth put everything on the line in following her mother-in-law. The reward was amazing.
Wonderful picture.
Great word and thoughts about it. So true!

Our recent Sunday School lessons were from Ruth. I also was blessed and encouraged by her faithfulness and support. Thank you for the reminder to strive to do our best in everything. Have a blessed day.
I'm not sure if I've noticed this verse before, but how comforting! And convicting! Thank you, Happy WFW!
I love that, thank you ~
Love it! I read through Ruth last night, and her ability to do even more than what is required, wow, convicting!
So true! I know I try to tell my children that they need to do more than minimum, but I need to make sure I'm not as well.
