Wonderful Weekend

Posted in Family, and Thoughts

We had a wonderful weekend camping.

We rolled into our beach front campsite late on Friday night. We were exhausted and happy to head to bed. We woke up to an absolutely beautiful view. We didn’t realize that we literally backed right up to the beach and the bay. Munchkin had a blast looking for shells on the beach. We could walk right across the road and be at the ocean. (We were on the bay side).

The San Diego Zoo and the Wild Animal Park is offering free entrance to all kids for the month of October. They are also offering free admittance for active duty personnel and a discount for their family members. Since we would only have to pay for my entrance fee, we decided this would be a good time to visit the zoo and animal park.

On Saturday, we headed to the San Diego Zoo. The Wild Animal Park was our adventure for Sunday. After we got back from the animal park on Sunday, we were able to go walk by the ocean for a while. Munchkin ended up wet and cold, but very happy. As the sun was setting, we found 4 complete sand dollars. I found one and then Daddy found one. Next thing we know, Munchkin found 2. Had we had a little more sunlight, we probably could have found a few more.

Monday morning, I woke up to a cheerful “Happy Birthday” from Munchkin. D followed suit when he got up. We packed things up and then headed over to the base. (D had a little work to do while we were there.) We stopped by IKEA and then headed to Chick-fil-a for my birthday lunch. After lunch, we were back on the road again heading home.

Upon arrival home, we quickly unpacked and D made us dinner. We were hungry. We had a relaxing evening watching The Ultimate Gift and then celebrating my birthday. I’ll post pictures of my birthday gifts later. **grin** I’ll also have to post a picture of D lighting the candles on my birthday cake. It was an adventure. lol!

It’s always good to be home, but now, we have lots to get caught up on. I’ve spent the day sewing a costume for Munchkin for the fall festival at church. Now, I’m off to try to get caught up on some computer work.
