It’s been far too long since I’ve participated in Thankful Thursday. This week seemed like the perfect time to join back in as the theme is Slow Down.
Laurie at Woman Taking a Stand asks…
HAS LIFE GOT YOU RUNNING RAGGED? Hurry, hurry, hurry…that seems to be the speed that America is in today. Whether you are running to the store, running to a child’s ballgame or running late to a staff meeting … life has us all running!!
Did you know that the state of “hurrying” affects our spiritual life? When there are too many things on the “to do” list, what is the one thing that usually does NOT get crossed off? Prayer and spending time with the Father, most likely… (see the rest of the post here.)
It’s seems like things have been pretty crazy since D got back from his deployment nearly 10 months ago. It’s hard to believe that much time has passed as it was a whirlwind of activity from the moment that he returned. I can’t say that we don’t have many things going on right now, but we have started to settle more into our life here. Things don’t seem quite as hectic now.
Our focus has shifted from all the things that have to get done to turning this house into a home, a haven for our family. God has used different things to allow me to focus on what He wants for me as a wife and mother. These are things that I wouldn’t have noticed if the craziness in our lives had continued. He brought peace into our lives right when we needed it the most.
This week, I am very grateful for family time. I have started to take more time to enjoy sitting down with Munchkin and playing games. D and I have had more opportunities to talk about us due to our Sunday school class on marriage. It’s been good reflecting on times gone by.
I am also very grateful for our new church family. They have welcomed us with open arms. The Pastor and his wife are very open, and we enjoy conversing with them weekly. It’s been a long time since we’ve had a church that we felt we could call home. Lord willing, we have found that now.
“I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.” Psalm 4:8
Such a great thankful list.
It has been a while since I've stopped by here. So happy for your family, having your husband home.
The Bible verse you included here at the bottom is one I claim whenever I am uneasy being alone in the house at night while Honey Bear is traveling. I brings me comfort. Finding a church home is a tremendous blessing. It sounds like God has sent you where he wants you to be.
Mama Bear
Great list! I'm glad your husband is home and you're enjoying some peaceful times.
