On Friday, we completed our month long study of Ancient Egypt. We could have easily spent more time with this unit as there are so many great activities available for Ancient Egypt studies. We enjoyed doing a self-made lapbook to go along with our study. We also did a few notebooking pages and worksheets with this unit. Munchkin enjoyed studying hieroglyphics.
We chose the pyramids and sphinx as the cover image as it is one of the classic images of Egypt. Munchkin also says that it reminded her of how hard life must of been for the Israelites under Egyptian rule.
While Munchkin enjoyed studying mummies, she did not care to hear too much about the canopic jars and that part of the mummification process. (For many of these pieces, I used the book Ancient Egypt by Suzanne Brown.)
This timeline, found here, was a great help as we wrapped up this unit.
The calendar wheel was quite interesting as it helped Munchkin see how much the Egyptians relied on the Nile for all aspects of their lives.
These are a couple of games that Egyptian children played.

Hi, love the book you have put together. I was wondering where you got the Egyptian Calendar wheel – I would really like to use it with my class.
Thanks.
The Egyptian calendar wheel was from the Ancient Egypt (affiliate link) book by Suzanne Brown.
Thank you, I’ve ordered it.
