BFS #114 – Betcha’ Can’t Eat Just One

Posted in Fun, and Holidays

Assignment: Tell us about something that you can’t get enough of and what scripture(s) in the Bible you cannot tear yourself away from.

I love Christmas music. There is something completely uplifting about it. I love Christmas lights and Christmas goodies. I love reading books about our Savior’s birth. I love reading the Christmas story in the Bible each year. I guess you could say that I can’t get enough of Christmas.

Luke 2:1-20

1And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.

2(And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)

3And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

4And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

5To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

6And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

7And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

8And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

9And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

10And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

12And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

14Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

15And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.

16And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

17And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.

18And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
19But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

20And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

Away in a Manger by Third Day

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
The little Lord Jesus laid down His sweet head.
The stars in the sky looked down where He lay,
The little Lord Jesus, asleep on the hay.

The cattle are lowing, the Baby awakes,
But little Lord Jesus, no crying He makes;
I love Thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky
And stay by my cradle till morning is nigh.

Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask Thee to stay
Close by me forever, and love me, I pray;
Bless all the dear children in Thy tender care,
And take us to Heaven to live with Thee there.

I too love everything about Christmas. It is my very favorite time of year.

Everyone comes to our house on Christmas Eve for a big dinner and what is now called, “Grandma’s Christmas Program.” 🙂 Our youngest daughter reads out loud as part of the program, Luke, chapter 2:1-20 as well. There are always unsaved people in the mix, so I always pray that they will ‘hear’ the message.

So, you have a mountain biking hubby too. 🙂 Lew is so competitive when he rides with his friends. He will about kill himself to ensure he ‘wins.’ Crazy. 🙂 He is so much bigger and strong as an ox, so he has the advantage in that way. He isn’t your typical mountain biker size. He’s 6’4″. Most mountain bikers are much smaller, as you well know. He rides on trails on their weekend rides up to 40 miles.

Do you ride with your husband? I confess, I do not. I could ‘never’ keep up regardless of how good of shape I could get into. 🙂

Thanks SO MUCH for praying! And for keeping in touch. I wish I could say I have been as good, but I have not. 🙁 I just read about your surgery but could not find out why you were having surgery. I hope you are doing OK. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you (and I mean that). 😀 MANY blessings and a MERRY CHRISTMAS! Love in Christ, Paula

Hey! Thanks for stopping by. We both just got off work and are whipped. We plan to celebrate around the new year and go out on town. We love the city! So tonight, we just sit in our chairs, soaking our feet…I think it will be a pasta night! ;o)

I'd gladly trade that snow envy you were referring to. 🙂 We have 8 inches of frozen snow and we are suppose to get hit hard tomorrow, Sunday & Monday with a bunch more! Today was my window to get the last of the shopping and errands done, so trekked out 45 miles from home. The normally 60 mph freeway was between 20 and 45. Tomorrow morning weather permitting we go to pick up our granddaughter. 🙂

I'll post snow pics for you. 🙂

Take 'good' care of yourself. 🙂

    Love & prayers!
