All I can say about the opening ceremonies last night is WOW! At first, when I brought up watching the opening ceremonies, Munchkin wasn’t at all interested. Then, I turned it on. She couldn’t take her eyes off the screen as beautiful, awe inspiring images passed before her. I allowed her to stay up way too late, but it was so worth it.
Unfortunately, Munchkin woke up sick this morning. I’m sure it has something to do with getting up early all week for VBS, being around lots of kids all week, and staying up very late last night. We had a nice, relaxing day today as we watched some of the Olympics coverage and some Little House on the Prairie.
Then, the evening coverage of the games started. Munchkin was amazed as she watched the men’s gymnastics. She thought the woman’s beach volleyball was cool, but didn’t understand why they would want to play in skimpy swimsuits. **grin**
After watching these, I tucked her in bed for the night. It didn’t take long though before I heard the pitter patter of little feet coming to my room. She didn’t feel good and wondered if she could cuddle for a little while. Well, I’m a sucker when she’s feeling sick, so she crawled into bed with me. She was thrilled when she was able to watch Michael Phelps win gold. She loves watching the swimming.
Munchkin’s now snuggled in bed and hopefully falling fast asleep. I’m continuing to watch the Olympics. I’m sure we’ll have many more evenings of cuddling and watching these Olympic games.
