I have to admit that I wasn’t really expecting much from my Mother’s Day as D is gone. I was in for a pleasant surprise!
Munchkin hid little notes around the house leading me on a “treasure” hunt. (She did this on Saturday evening before bed and instructed me not to look around the house after she went to bed.) So, on Sunday morning after she got up, we headed out on my treasure hunt. All of the little heart-shaped notes lead me to a beautiful card that she had made. There was also her beloved Ducky (stuffed animal) holding a special gift for me. Munchkin had sewn a little pouch that contained some coins for me. She had also created a small bouquet of flowers that she picked from the yard. What a wonderful way to start the day.
We had our breakfast and cuddled before getting ready for church. At church, they handed out carnations and silver boxes to all of the moms. We found out that there were nice pens inside of the silver boxes once we arrived home. It was a nice service dedicated to mothers.
After church, we made pizzas for lunch. We relaxed for a little while after eating and then started to make a double batch of brownies. Munchkin helped with the brownies, and we had a blast. As they baked in the oven, we started a game of Homeschoolopy. Once the brownies were done, we munched on hot, delicious brownies while finishing up the game. As usual, she beat me. lol! I cut up most of the brownies and put them in the freezer for later.
The rest of our afternoon and part of the evening was filled with playing board games and relaxing. D wanted to be able to call, but the phone was just too busy for him to be able to call home.
Then, we ended up having to interrupt our final game as a tornado watch and severe thunderstorm warning came through. I wanted to keep an eye on things, so Munchkin went and played out in the living room. Once the danger had passed, we got our evening snacks and cuddled a bit prior to her heading to bed.
I am very blessed to have a thoughtful daughter who loves me with all of her heart. I am also blessed to have a husband who cares so deeply for his family.
