Time of Rest

Posted in Family, Homeschooling, and Thoughts

Munchkin woke up feeling quite ill yet this morning. Thankfully, the ear pain had passed, so the day, while difficult, wasn’t nearly as bad. Since she wanted me with her in the living room, I decided to take the opportunity to read and get some planning done for the upcoming school year.

I was able to get a whole book ready today which was such a treat. I truly love to read, and I don’t often have the opportunity to just sit down and read an entire book in a few sittings. It was refreshing.

I was able to get a bunch of research and planning done on the curriculum that we’ll be using. I also started to organize my teacher’s binder for the upcoming year. Yes, I like to have things planned out for the beginning of the year. Yes, it’s odd that I’m doing all of this now when we haven’t quite finished up for this year.

Munchkin has set goals for herself and her schooling this coming year. They are ambitious goals, so I need to make sure that they are possible given the time frame that we have to accomplish them. It will also require a bit more planning than I am use to — thus the reason for all of the planning now. She wants to jump right into the new school year once we are done with this school year. She has set her eyes on the end mark — Daddy’s return home at the end of this deployment. (While this is still months away, it gives her a solid mark to look towards). Her motivation: to be done with the new school year by the time he arrives home in order to be able to spend lots and lots of time with Daddy. Will we achieve the goal? Maybe, maybe not. Life happens, so we’ll take things one day at a time and see where we end up.

Ultimately, all that we accomplish each day, week, month, year is in the Lord’s hands. We want to honor and glorify Him in all that we do. My goal is simply to train up our daughter to love the Lord with all of her heart, her mind, and her soul. Everything else will fall into place after that.

We’re not counting down the days yet as we still have a long way to go before this deployment is over.

Thank you for the prayers. They are appreciated.

I’m a planner too – although I’m behind and still struggling to finish planning this year. But I did buy the next Volume! 🙂

What a great goal to be finished when Daddy gets home!
