Last night, we headed over to the Botanical Gardens for their members only sneak preview of the Garden of Lights display. As we drove up to the gardens, we were greeted by thousands of beautiful Christmas lights twinkling in the still, cool night. They asked us to tune our radio to the Christmas music playing on their set station. We began to drive through the tunnel of lights looking at the different displays. After a couple of minutes, we pull up to the snack station. We are given our choice of hot chocolate or coffee and donuts. A few feet later, we pause again to receive a nice potted plant. Now, the real displays begin. The displays feature summer, winter, fall, and spring themes as well as themes from different countries. All of the colors are a feast for the eyes. It was absolutely beautiful. It was a wonderful way to begin the holiday season.
Today, we worked on our Christmas gifts/package for D. We wanted to get them out this week just in case they take a little longer to get there. We included some special surprises to (hopefully) help him get in the holiday spirit. We’ll be sending out the baked goods in a later package. We also finished up his regular package with his “needs” items.
I’m putting together the list of things I need to make for Thanksgiving. Yes, we’ll be doing the full Thanksgiving feast for Munchkin and I. I’m going to attempt to make a gluten-free pumpkin pie. We’ll see how it goes. If all goes well, I’ll freeze some extras in the freezer for later.
For school, we’re trying to finish up our Thanksgiving lapbook as I plan on starting a Christmas lapbook next week. We’ll be visiting family for Christmas, so we want to do the lapbook early. We’ll take a break from school during our visit. We know that we have lots of fun activities to keep us busy while we’re up there. Sometimes, busy is good….
