Palm Sunday

Posted in Holidays

Today, we remember Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. The crowds adored Him and welcomed Him with open arms. They waved palm branches at Him and shouted “Hosanna”. It was a time of rejoicing and happiness.

As I think about this time period in Jesus’ life, I have to wonder if He was able to live in the day and enjoy this time period. He already knew what was going to happen to Him. He knew that He was going to be betrayed in only a few short days. I wonder what He was thinking.

It’s hard for us to live one day at a time. We often live for tomorrow instead of enjoying each day and making it precious. I know I am guilty of doing this.

I believe that Jesus was able to enjoy this time period in His life. I believe that He was able to live one day at a time even though He knew what His life would hold for Him in the end. I believe that He (as always) is a perfect example of how we should live our lives. We should hold each day dear as we never know if we will have tomorrow. We should celebrate life and loved ones. We should act as if Jesus were walking beside us each day of our lives.

Here are a few things that I found for Palm Sunday for helping teach kids the meaning behind the Palm Sunday celebration:

The King is Coming (a story about Jesus entering Jerusalem)

Lesson Plans for Palm Sunday

The Three Trees (a story about the life of Christ)

**edited to add a page containing Easter Songs and poems**

At church this morning some of the parish waved palm branches
when it came to the story for the children something that stuck me is how the people of the day welcomed him in with the branches and then turned around and yelled for him to be killed in almost the same breath
I have read these stories before but today they really hit me
I am after some songs for preschoolers about Easter for Tuesday playgroup as yet Im not having much luck any ideas

My favorite verse is Hebrews 12:2 “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross…”
He was able to find contentment in these times, because He was looking forward, something we should be doing more of. I have more to say on the subject, but I think I’ll write a blog entry about it! Thanks for the idea.
