Make It From Scratch: Bubbles

Posted in Homemaking

If you saw my post about the Children’s Museum, you know that my daughter LOVED the bubble area the most. When we arrived home, she wanted to make big bubbles. Unfortunately, it’s pretty hard to make big bubbles with your standard bubble solution sold at stores. It’s just too weak.

So off to the internet I went searching for the perfect bubble solution, when I came across The Bubblesphere. They have all kinds of information on bubbles and bubble solutions. So, I decided that this weeks make it from scratch entry would be our own bubble solution.

Since I wanted mega bubble solution, I wanted to go with their third recipe for super bubbles, but I didn’t have glycerine on hand. So, I went with the second solution.

Here’s the recipe:
1 Parts Dawn or Joy liquid dish soap
10 Parts water
.25 Parts White Karo Syrup (optional)

(See there’s even some math for the kids while you’re making the solution.)

Unfortunately, I don’t have any pictures because it started raining — then freezing rain before we had a chance to test out the finished “potion”. So, this post will be continued on the next sunny day.

Karo? Sounds like sticky fun! Too bad about the weather.

I still like to blow bubbles–even at my age :). What a wonderful idea to make your own. I am sure your munchkin was disappointed that you had freezing rain today. I hope that the sun will shine soon for you to try the bubble solution.

    Have a blessed weekend, Heather…

I guess with the KARO in it, it would not be a good idea to blow bubbles inside!
