Today (7/13), Munchkin and I headed over to Locust Shade Park to see Reptile World. It was a bit rainy, but we still had a great time. The show contained many different snakes including an anaconda and a python. We were able to touch the anaconda after the show which was a fun experience. Other things in the show that Munchkin found particularly interesting were the alligator snapping turtle and the alligator. All in all, a little rain didn’t spoil the show for us. Munchkin is learning about snakes in school, so this was a great way for her to reinforce what she’s been learning.
Yesterday (7/12), we went to a place in Fredericksburg called the Bug Box. It’s basically a bug zoo. They have many different live bugs on display and well as many different specimens for viewing. We liked seeing the different bugs. Munchkin’s favorite was the scorpions. Upon returning home, Munchkin decided to take a nice dip in the pool only to find many different species of bugs decided that they wanted to take a dip with her. She kept having to clean out the pool and soon grew frustrated with these winged “friends”. A rain shower put an end to her frustration as she headed inside to watch a show about different spiders.
It is funny to read about a little girl liking bugs so much. But then she didn’t want to swim with them LOL How fun!!

She definitely did not want bugs invading her space – well, unless she put them there. lol!
Does she still like bugs?
It sounds like you had a fun day back in ’06! 🙂

My son would love that! lol
Great first post. One of the great things about homeschooling is that we can follow our children’s interests and take many cool field trips. Love it!
