Another Sick Day

Posted in Family

Munchkin’s allergies have been giving her fits, so she’s down sick again.  She was just sick last week, so it’s a bit frustrating to both of us.  She has all of these plans for things that she wanted to do today, but it’s not happening.  Instead, she’s resting in bed and watching movies. I’m getting some things done around the house while trying to make sure that she’s drinking water and eating at least a little something.  Since her throat hurts, getting her to drink and eat can be a difficult task. Sick days mean a delicate balance of giving…

The Heavens Proclaim His Glory A Spectacular View of Creation Through the Lens of the NASA Hubble Telescope Created and Compiled by Lisa Stilwell Going camping in the desert where light pollution is minimal, we are able to see the splendor of the moon and stars with the naked eye.  Much beauty is there to behold by just looking up.  You can’t help but see the magnificent beauty of the Lord’s Creation.  Yet, there is so much more out there that we can not see without the aid of a telescope.  Even a high power telescope here on earth cannot…

Monday Meanderings and Giveaway Winner

We have declared weekends, especially Sunday, family time. On Saturdays, we get various things done that are unable to be done during the week.  This could mean doing tasks around the house and/or getting errands done.  We try to get these necessary things out of the way as quickly as possible.  Saturday evenings, we sit down and enjoy a movie together as a family.  This past Saturday, we watched Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story.  It’s a great, inspirational family movie.  (We rented it from Netflix.) On Sundays, we head to church in the morning and come home to a…

Stocked Gluten Free Pantry

Last week, I shared a picture of my stocked freezer.  This week, after some much needed organization, I am sharing a couple of pictures of my pantry.  One of the things that I really like about this house is the size of the pantry.  It’s nice and big with good storage space. The first picture is of all of the items that I store in Tupperware.  At any given time, we have several different kinds of gluten free cereal on hand.  I have various types of gluten free flours including: teff, amaranth, sorghum, sweet rice, white rice, brown rice, tapioca,…

Delicious, Family-Friendly Low Sodium Meals

Posted in Family, and Homemaking

When we head out camping, we normally have very little space for storage of food and seasonings.  We love lots of flavor in our foods, and we don’t want to give up flavor even though we’re camping.  To make things easy, D likes to take his “all purpose” seasoning, Mrs. Dash Garlic and Herb, with us.  It works for chicken, steak, eggs…  It gives that punch of flavor that we like without needing lots of different seasonings. For those who are watching their salt intake, Mrs. Dash makes a nice substitute because it is salt-free.  You don’t feel like you’re…
