Thankful Thursday: Spiritual Growth

Posted in Family

“Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6

As a parent, any time you see spiritual growth in your child you rejoice. Well, we experienced a big spiritual growth moment with our daughter this week. On Tuesday, we sat down to do devotions with Munchkin in the evening; she announced that she wanted to start doing these devotions on her own. We told her that was wonderful, but we would also continue to do family devotions in the evening.

Wednesday morning, she woke up and asked if she was suppose to do her devotions in the morning. I told her that’s when I did them. So, she decided that was when she was going to do them as well. We got her all set up with her devotional book and Bible, and she did devotions on her own for the first time.

In the evening, she took the lead with family devotions and chose to read the scripture passage out loud. She normally doesn’t want to do this, so we were pleasantly surprised. She also lead us in prayer.

While there were many, many things to be thankful for this week, this really was the best thing for me. To see more blessings, head on over to Sting My Heart for more Thankful Thursday.
