Hiking Barker Dam Trail

Posted in Family, and Outdoor Adventures

It’s hard to believe that we haven’t been out hiking since June 2015. We love the great outdoors and exploring, but my ankle injury put everything on hold for months and months and months. I’m still working on getting back to 100%, but I’m now at the point where I felt that I could start doing some short hikes. The first day of spring seemed like the perfect time to give it a try. We headed over to Joshua Tree National Park to take the easy Barker Dam Trail hike. The parking area was packed, but the hike itself was…

Exploring Joshua Tree National Park: Skull Rock

Posted in Family, and Outdoor Adventures

The girls were ready for some more rock climbing so we headed back to Joshua Tree National Park. We found a nice location where there was a picnic table in the shade for some of us to sit while others took off for a climbing adventure. D had a blast leading the way. We had to periodically remind him that he had some littles that weren’t used to climbing and who didn’t have the right footware this time around. lol! It was quite warm…

Hiking Cougar Crest Trail – Big Bear, CA

On Saturday, we decided that it was time to test out our new Gregory backpacks. Seeing how we want to eventually do multiple day hikes, we know that it’s important to work out way up to being able to do that. Hiking with just a day pack (our normal thing) is completely different from backpacking with a bigger pack, so it’s important to condition your body before taking on a longer trip. We headed up to Big Bear and hit the Cougar Crest Trail. From the parking lot, the trail is roughly 5.8 miles round trip. (You hike up and…
