Celebrating a Birthday: Off-road Style

Posted in Family, and Holidays

Today, we’re celebrating D’s birthday.  We’re starting off the day with monkey bread, and then we’re off to do a bit of off-road exploration in D’s truck.  We’ll be doing some hiking and some driving.  Munchkin is excited because she gets to show off some of her favorite places to Gramma and Grampa.  D is excited ’cause he gets to go wheeling on his birthday! A picnic lunch will be enjoyed somewhere along the way.  The cupcakes have been packed as we’ll be enjoying his birthday treats while out on the trails. Happy Birthday, Devildog!

As I looked all about, a strange sight I did see No tinsel, no presents, not even a tree No stocking by the fire, just boots filled with sand On the wall hung pictures of a far distant land. With medals and badges, awards of all kind A sobering thought soon came to my mind For this…

Nativity Blog Carnival

Posted in Holidays

I saw this Nativity Blog Carnival over at Bears in Exile and thought it was a fun idea. There are some really cool Nativity scenes featured at different blogs, so you might want to head over and check them out. Our first Nativity Scene is our living Nativity from our church play. Our next Nativity is the one the Munchkin built this year. This Willow Tree Nativity was one that I have been wanting for some time. I was able to purchase the starter set this year after Thanksgiving thanks to a really good sale. Behind it, you can see…
