Kick-Start Fitness Final Check-In

Dried Goji Berries

It’s hard to believe that we’ve come to the end of our December Kick-Start Fitness challenge.  It’s been fun blogging through December with my fellow bloggers.  I’m heading into the New Year with the confidence that I ended the year on a good note when it comes to fitness.  I plan on carrying the momentum into the new year.

As I noted last week, having a new dog who is use to walks has definitely helped me work at getting back into shape physically.  We’re continuing to have multiple walks per day.  Normally, I’m walking Wiley by myself, but sometimes Munchkin joins me during the day, and D will walk with me in the evenings on some nights.  D is slowly working at getting back in shape, so these walks are a mellow way to get is body use to physical exercise again.  One night, Munchkin and D road their bikes while I walked with Wiley.  We headed over to the running track here on base, and they road a  few laps while Wiley and I made did one lap.

While I haven’t yet added my Wii/Xbox 360/Zumba (at home) back into my routine, I have been continuing to increase my water intake.  I’ve added dried Goji berries to my diet as they are suppose to be a super fruit.  I just toss them in my cereal/granola in the morning.  I’m also researching juicing as I may be adding homemade veggie/fruit juice to my diet.

I’ve been struggling a bit more with my asthma this week, but my headaches have been a bit better.  I tend to adjust what I’m doing according to how I’m feeling physically.  I am so grateful for the mild climate here as it makes getting out and walking much easier even when I’m not feeling wonderful.

Tomorrow, Lord willing, we’ll be heading out hiking for the first time in months.  It will be nice to get back out there as this is something that we really enjoy as a family, and we’ve missed doing it.  We’re looking forward to seeing how Wiley reacts to hiking.  I plan on putting a harness on him as an extra back-up his first time out.  I’m so ready to get back into our outdoor adventures.  **grin**

Thanks to my fellow Kick-Start Fitness team members for making this a fun December…

  1. Sounds like you’re finishing up a successful month with a healthy attitude. Way to go! I hope that hike goes well, I’m itching to check out some hiking trails around here, but my little ones are not quite mature enough to come along.

  2. A new dog will always add excitement (I mean exercise). LOL It was nice to have you along on this journey! I’ve heard about the Wii Zumba – I think that would be fun (we don’t have a Wii tho). Blessings to you!
