BFS #116 – Now You’re Playing with Power

Posted in Fun

Memory Verse: Genesis 7:24 The water held power over the earth for 150 days.

Introduction: The only witnesses to the Flood are Noah, his wife, his three sons and their wives – 8 people. And then there’s the animals, 2 of every unclean animal and 7 pairs of every clean animal. When Noah and his family emerged from the ark, they offered sacrifices and praised the Lord for preserving them.

Assignment: What kind of catastrophe have you lived through? Weather? Fire? Car crash? Did you feel the oppression of the power of the disaster, or the protection of the Power of the Lord? Tell us the story of how you rejoiced and praised Him through it and after it.

There have been several different hardships in our live, but the main catastrophe that we’ve lived through was a hurricane. The nice thing about hurricanes is that you have time to prepare ahead of time. We had our food, water, and supplies ready. We prayed for our safety and for the safety of those around us. We prayed for Daddy as he was out in the storm as that was part of his job.

The hurricane hit. The trees began to sway like wheat in the wind. The wind whirled about us. The roof began to leak. A tree crashed down on our neighbors house. Another tree fell on a neighbor’s garage. The water was quickly rising in the river. A peaceful calm filled the air before the second half of the storm hit. Neighbors checked on other neighbors. I called D to let him know the roof was leaking.

Then the full fury of the hurricane was once again released. Branches were whipped around. Rain pounded down on the house. The rising river raged. Finally, the storm ended. We checked out the damaged, and praised God that no one was hurt. Yes, there was damage to property, but that could be replaced. The Lord had provided safety and comfort through the storm.
