We made the choice to do things together as a family while Daddy was home. That meant that a few people probably ended up a little unhappy with us as we didn’t really do anything with other people. We just relaxed and had fun together.
Daddy’s first day home was spent just relaxing and recovering from his trip home. The next day, we headed out to see the new Narnia movie. We really enjoyed it. Later in the evening, we headed out to Munchkin’s baseball practice.
Daddy was able to attend two of Munchkin’s baseball practices as well as the last 2 games of the season. That meant that he was there for the awards ceremony. They had lots of fun throwing the ball around and preparing for the games. Munchkin really misses this type of interaction while Daddy is gone. Mommy is ok, but it’s not the same as Daddy.
Daddy and Munchkin played board games while I prepared some of Daddy’s favorite meals. (We had to help him put on some weight that he had lost, so we ate very well while he was home.) Munchkin even learned how to play Risk.
We spent Memorial Day at Colonial Williamsburg for their military appreciation and Memorial Day special events. It was the first time that we had gone there as a family. Munchkin and I had gone during their homeschool days before, but Daddy was away at that time. We had a good time, and it helped us focus on the real reason behind Memorial Day.
Daddy decided that he wanted to get us a Wii to play together as a family. We did have a blast playing it together. I didn’t realize how tiring it could be. Since it’s interactive, you really can get a work out. lol!
We set up the pool on Thursday, so Daddy and Munchkin could enjoy playing in the pool on Friday (prior to him leaving today). I very much appreciated not having to try to set the pool up myself.
Last week, we duct taped the fabric “roof” of our screen room back together. It had torn during a storm, so we tackled that while Daddy was home. It’s very nice to have the screen room back in working order. We also picked up a new table since the other one broke for no reason prior to him arriving home. This time, we went with a nice wood table to should last for years and years to come. We enjoyed several meals out there without the concern of bugs. Very nice!
Mainly, we just had fun being together and making memories. We’re already looking forward to his return home, and he’s just left. We’ve spent time praying for his safe travel and for our strength as we tackle another 5 months of being apart. The Lord has blessed us thus far, and we know that He’ll continue to give us the comfort we need…
Its important that you were able to spend time as a family
pleased you enjoyed that time together
Will he be home for Christmas?
as I said before praying for you all
be strong lots of love
Jen
