Our Weekend

Posted in Family, and Thoughts

We had a lovely weekend with my sister, brother-in-law, and nieces. Our weekend started by meeting them at Chick-fil-a. Since we haven’t eaten out since the beginning of January, we really enjoyed this. The girls played for a little while on the playground before we headed home.

The girls had a lot of fun playing together. Since we knew that we had a full day ahead of us on Saturday, we attempted to get the girls to bed a decent time. Our Saturday started bright and early. (I had forgotten what it was like to have little ones who get up super early.) A little playtime and breakfast started our day. Then off to the aquarium we went.

By the time lunchtime came around, we were starving. We headed to the seafood place that we found, but it didn’t look very family friendly. So, we ended up at Chick-fil-a again. They don’t have Chick-fil-a, so they were enjoying this. On the way home, we stopped to see the U.S.S. Wisconsin and go to the Naval Museum.

My nieces went down for a nap when we got back. Munchkin rested while they napped as she’s not use to getting up so early. My sister and I headed out to go to some thrift stores. It’s always enjoyable to go to thrift stores with another adult. Don’t get me wrong. I have fun thrifting with Munchkin, but this was a fun treat to go with my sister.

When the girls woke up, we headed out to try to get seafood again. Well, it turns out that a lot of the places were closed for the season, so we ended up at Carrabas. It turns out that they have a wonderful gluten free menu. We really enjoyed that meal. It was late by the time we were done eating, so we decided to go walk around a store for a bit before heading home.

We were all tired and ready for bed by the time that we got home. On Sunday, we enjoyed a leisurely morning together before heading over to the Children’s Museum. The girls had a lot of fun playing and exploring at this hands on museum. We headed over to a local seafood buffet for lunch. Munchkin and I enjoyed the all we could eat shrimp cocktail & crab legs. Munchkin enjoyed lots of fruit and I had a salad to top off our meal.

We headed back to the house and said our goodbyes. Munchkin played for a while outside after they left. Then, we decided to cuddle and watch a movie before we ate supper. We had an earlier evening since we were both tired.

We really enjoyed our company even though it was a brief trip. It’s always a blessing to spend time with family.

I’m pleased the visit went well and you got out to some interesting places. I’ve never eaten at Carrabas althought there is one in Huntsville, Alabama. It is always good to visit with family. We have a Children’s museum here and have visited several times with grands.
