Sunday Thoughts

Posted in Thoughts

This morning, while doing devotions, I read this verse and thought I would share.

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” James 1:5

So often in life, we do things without thinking. We talk without thinking. We act without thinking. We make purchases without thinking. How often do we also do these same things without praying as well?

These last few months have really been a lesson in prayer, trust, patience, and thinking. We have had to ask God for wisdom in all we do as we just couldn’t make these decisions alone. It’s much easier (and more foolish) to trust on ourselves and to rely on God after we have messed things up. Why not trust God and ask for wisdom right from the start?

King Solomon knew that wisdom was to be valued far above earthly riches. Should we not value wisdom as well? For those that have children, it is critical for us to teach the value of wisdom to our children. We’re living in a generation that if filled with “me, I, #1”. How often do we hear “just do it”. That is not what the Lord wants for us.

We need to seek wisdom and all things good in the sight of the Lord. May you have a wonderful Sunday.

I’ve been thinking along the same lines. However, the passage on my mind is where it says, “. . . in all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths,” as well as “commit to the Lord whatever you do and your plans will succeed.” (My apologies for not including references.) Then, here’s your post about it too. I think the Lord’s trying to hit this one home. What if before speaking to my neighbour I prayed a silent prayer asking the Lord to take the lead . . . as well as asking for His wisdom in doing the things you shared. I appreciated your post today and have been enjoying your blog. 🙂
