Doce Fire (Arizona Wildfire) Day One and Two Images

Posted in Family

Doce Fire Day One Early Afternoon

Munchkin and I headed into town on Tuesday to pick up our grassfed beef order. While we were there, we saw this HUGE smoke cloud. We immediately knew that it was a fire of some sort. Not knowing what was going on, we finished up our errands and started to make our way home. As we were driving and got closer to the origination spot of the fire, we realized this was a large fire. I flipped on the radio to find out what was going on. We soon learned that a wildfire (human made, still under investigation) had been started, and it was growing fast.

Doce Fire Day One Evening

The air was thick with smoke and the wind was spreading it far and wide. Little did we know at the time how big this fire would get. That night, I looked out from our back porch and saw the flames creeping up the mountain.

Doce Fire Day Two Evening

The next day, the fire had grown to over 6,000 acres, and over 600 firefighters along with air support were fighting the blaze. It was still at 0% containment due to the terrain and wind conditions. Over 400 homes had been evacuated, but at least no structures had been lost.

We are now on day three of the fire, and we’re waiting for the latest updates. We’re continuing to pray for all of those fighting the fire and directly involved in it.

  1. Are you a good distance away? Not fun to be able to see it from your house! We’ll pray too.

    • Yes, we have a valley between us and the fire. Thankfully, the fire is under control now, and the evacuations (as of Sunday) have been lifted. No structures were lost and no injuries/fatalities were reported. It truly was a miracle. 🙂
