Grilling with Amish Cooking Gloves

Posted in Reviews

Special thanks to Ann Yoder’s Amish Kitchen for providing a sample pair of Amish Cooking Gloves for my family to test out in our home. This post may contain affiliate links. The weather is warming up, so it’s time to clean up the grill and start grilling. It’s also a good time to make sure you actually have enough propane to complete the grilling (assuming you’re using a propane grill). As the temps continue to rise, it’s nice to use the grill for both cooking and grilling to try to keep the house a little cooler. Did you know that…

Homemade Yogurt Fruit Leather

Posted in Gluten Free, and Reviews

Special thanks to Lucky Star 14 LLC for providing samples of their dehydrator sheets to use in our home for evaluation. Recently, I heard about a twist on regular fruit leather – yogurt fruit leather. It sounded like a snack that I’d really enjoy. We have lots of yummy fresh berries at the farmers market this time of year, so it was a perfect time to give them a try. (You can also used thawed frozen berries, if needed, which is what I did this time as we ate all of the fresh berries before I could make the yogurt…

Pantry and Food Storage Organization

Posted in Homemaking, and Reviews

I received a sample of the chalk markers to help facilitate the writing of a honest review. This post may contain affiliate links. Over the years, I have tried a variety of different items to label and organize my food pantry and food storage. For many years, I used Tupperware Modular Mates for all of my food storage needs and just applied small labels to the containers. (Here is a picture of my gluten free pantry while using modular mates.) This worked great as it made for easy moves and kept our food bug-free, but as I learned more about…

Brieftons Tri-Blade Spiral Slicer Review and Giveaway

Posted in Reviews

Back in October, you may remember that I had the opportunity to test out the Brieftons Spiral Slicer. It was a hand-held unit that was nice and small, but it had a good bit of waste like other spiral slicers with that particular design. Well, I recently was given the chance to test out the larger, more versatile Brieftons Tri-Blade Spiral Slicer. I have to admit that I wish this spiral slicer came in red as the green just doesn’t fit with my kitchen, but that’s just a personal preference. The unit itself is well thought out. I did run…

Canning with AYL® Silicone Gloves

Posted in Reviews

I really like my silicone oven mitts, but they don’t work as well for tasks that require me to grab something smaller. Right now, I’m doing a lot of canning, so I needed something that would allow me to safely turn the knobs on my pressure canner as well as grab jars, if necessary. Since my silicone oven mitts worked for the heat aspect (just not the small detail aspect), I knew that I wanted to test out some silicone gloves. I was happy to receive the AYL® silicone gloves to test out in my kitchen. The AYL® silicone gloves are heat resistant…
