Bryce Canyon: Sunrise Point

Posted in Family, and Outdoor Adventures

Over the next few days, I’ll be posting pictures from the different stops at Bryce Canyon.  Instead of having 1 HUGE post that was filled to the brim with pictures, I decided to just do a series of posts with a selection of pictures for each location. For our trip to Bryce Canyon, we took our handy Your Guide to Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks.  Before each stop, I would read all the information presented in the book for that stop.  We would then take the book with us to the location, so we knew exactly what we were…

Mossy Cave and Waterfall

Posted in Family, and Outdoor Adventures

One of the brief stops we made at the end of one of our days was at a trailhead called Mossy Cave.  We didn’t realize until we looked at the information board that there was also a waterfall at the top of the trail.  It turns out that this waterfall is man made as a way to try to control water runoff and erosion. As we got out at this stop, it started to sprinkle.  Since it was a bit cooler out that day, the rain felt quite cold.  We were enjoying the rain even though it was cool.  It’s…

Queen’s Garden and Navajo Trail Hike

Posted in Family, and Outdoor Adventures

Friday, we headed over to Bryce Canyon for the combination trail of Queen’s Garden and Navajo Loop.  It was a beautiful, breezy day with very few clouds in the sky – a perfect day for hiking. If you look carefully at this picture, you can see the trail that we are taking down to the bottom. It was 300+ feet to the bottom. Welcome to the Queen’s Garden. While there were a few hikers that thought they were actually going to see a garden, most realized that they were hiking to a rock garden. Once you reach this point, you…

Hiking Devil’s Garden

Posted in Family, and Outdoor Adventures

After our long hike to the waterfall, we stopped by the Devil’s Garden for an easy hike/climb.  In this area, you can climb up on cliffs, scramble up the Hoodoos, and crawl under and over the arches.  It was a natural playground. The day started with a few short rain showers and ended with a beautiful blue sky filled with fluffy white clouds.  A wonderful time was had by all. Due to being tired out from Wednesday’s hikes, we chose to do some exploring in my side-by-side (Munchkin rode with me) and on D’s dirt bike.  We spent the morning…

Hike to the Falls – Lower Calf Creek

Posted in Family, and Outdoor Adventures

Wednesday’s adventure took us to the Lower Calf Creek hiking trail.  Our destination?  A 121 foot waterfall.  It was a 6 mile round trip hike up and down through rocks and sand.  It was a beautiful hike filled with great scenery and glimpses into our country’s past.  It was not an easy hike, but it was worth it. Munchkin is on the mend. This was the first day where she was actually acting more like herself. She was really excited to be out exploring and hiking. Our adventures continue at Devil’s Garden.
