Mmmm… The yummy holiday scents are filling the air due to making some vanilla sugar and vanilla-cinnamon spice for holiday baking (as well as for the rest of the year).  Little flecks of vanilla bean pepper my white kitchen counter and the room smells delightful. Mmmm… Homemade vanilla extract Back in January, I decided to make some of my own homemade vanilla extract.  Part of the whole process is allowing it to sit – for a long time – in a dark place.  It’s when of those fix it and forget about it type of things.   Well, finally, the time came when we could start using it.  It’s so much better than store bought vanilla extract.  I am so glad that I decided to go ahead and make it. My Gluten Free Flour Blend

This is the gluten free flour blend that I currently use in my baking: 1 C Brown Rice Flour 1 C Sorghum Flour 1 C Amaranth Flour 3 3/4 C White Rice Flour 2 1/4 C Sweet Rice Flour 2 C Tapioca Starch 3/4 C Potato Starch 3/4 C Corn Starch 6 tsp Xanthan Gum I usually make up a large batch and store it in an airtight Tupperware container.

Veggie Platter with Homemade Ranch Dip Ranch Dry Mix Ingredients: 3 Tbsp dried minced onions 3 Tbsp dried minced parsley 1 tsp dried minced chives 1/2 tsp sea salt 1/2 tsp garlic powder 1/2 tsp dried dill 1/2 tsp ground black pepper Mix together ingredients and store in airtight container. Homemade Ranch Dip or Dressing For Dip: mix together 1/2 C sour cream and 2 tsp dry ranch mix from above. For Dressing: mix together 1/2 C sour cream, 2 tsp dry ranch mix from above, and buttermilk to thin to desired thickness. Serve with your favorite cut up veggies…
