Slackline Fun

Posted in Family, Fitness, Outdoor Adventures, and Reviews

This post contains affiliate links. I purchased this slackline kit at a discount to provide feedback based upon my family’s experience with it. Do you remember when you were little and you tried to balance on anything and everything? Most kids start out balancing on things close to the ground and then work their way up to higher things. Munchkin loved trying to balance on a variety of things when we went for walks or to the park. As she got older, she liked to try to walk (with assistance) on rails and short fences. Balance beams at gymnastics were…

Fitness Friday: Working Through the Pain

Posted in Fitness

“A muscle is like a car. If you want it to run well early in the morning, you have to warm it up.” Florence Griffith Joyner It’s been a bit of a crazy week around here, but my recovery is slowly moving along. I’m beyond ready to be able to function like a normal human being again. My shoulders are aching due to having to use the crutches for so long. The eczema on my hands is acting up thanks to the grips on the crutches – not fun. Enough of the complaining… I have made progress – albeit painful progress.…

Fitness Friday: Ankle Rehab Kit

Posted in Fitness

It’s hard to believe that 6 1/2 weeks have passed since I suffered this ankle sprain. I truly thought that I would be walking without crutches by now, but alas, I still can’t bear my own weight on the ankle. Crutches have become my constant companion. I’m definitely going to need to see a chiropractor after I get off the crutches as I know it’s messing with my alignment. The good news is that I am able to put some weight on my ankle without the sharp pains shooting up my ankle/leg. It’s progress. I also found myself driving for…

Fitness Friday: Fighting Frustration

Posted in Fitness

4 1/2 weeks have passed since I sustained this ankle injury. I’m still on crutches. I’m still unable to bear my own weight. I find myself constantly fighting with the frustration that comes with being seriously limited in what I can and can not do. It’s especially frustrating when I know we only have a little over a week before Munchkin starts college, and we haven’t had the chance to do those fun activities that I wanted to do this summer. Not to mention, I have to be able to drive her to school as she doesn’t have a…

Fitness Friday: Yoga and Fitness Bands

Posted in Fitness, and Reviews

Special thanks to Phantom Fitness for providing a sample of their fitness loop bands for me to test out during my workouts. Well, this week continued to be a struggle with migraines and regular headaches. The headaches eased up enough that I was able to at least do some yoga and some fitness band work. The yoga helped keep the tension out of my muscles that tends to build up with headaches and having to rest a lot. The fitness band work allowed me to get at least a little resistance exercise in without the physical activity associated with my…
