Flooding at the Homestead: Part 2

While many people may have skipped making Thanksgiving dinner when faced with our crazy circumstances with the flooded cabin, I felt it was important to at least enjoy that part of our day. It also provided us with some good food to eat without having to stop to make up a full meal. Munchkin liked being able to grab food here and there as she got hungry. On Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, we packed up the truck and headed up to the cabin for a relaxing long weekend. What happened was anything but relaxing…. When we arrived at the cabin, we could hear the fire alarms going off, but we couldn’t figure out why until we walked into the cabin. The entire back half of the cabin was flooded. Except for the sunset, these are all pictures from when we were at the house prior to purchase. On Monday, we waited on pins and needles to see if the mortgage company would release the funding so we could close escrow. We didn’t want to pack up the trailer with things for the cabin if we wouldn’t be heading up there until later in the week. Back in July, we went to look at a cabin in the woods that was for sale. You see, our dream was to one day own a log cabin on some property where we could homestead once D retired from the military.
