Munchkin’s 14th Birthday

Posted in Family

Originally, we had planned on heading to the cabin to celebrate Munchkin’s birthday, but Daddy’s work kind of put a wrench in that plan. When I got up, I started the second phase of making Munchkin’s ice cream cake. (I had baked the cake on Wednesday, so it would be completely cool as you can’t have even remotely warm cake when making an ice cream cake.) Munchkin requested gluten free baked mac ‘n cheese for lunch which meant a quick trip to the store for milk. 😉 Because I knew that I would be taking Munchkin to TaeKwonDo later in…

Munchkin at Age 14

Posted in Family

It’s hard to believe that we’re celebrating the 14th birthday of our baby girl. Whew! Time has certainly flown by. She was so tiny when we brought her home from the hospital, and we were so young. Now, she’s growing into a beautiful young lady who loves to read, write, and draw. She also enjoys physical activities like archery and TaeKwonDo. She’s still trying to decide what to do with her life and wanting to know what the Lord has in store for her. I can see so much of her Daddy in her, and then there are some glimmers…

My Birthday at the Homestead

Except for the sunset, these pictures were all taken prior to purchase of the cabin. The dogs were enjoying the cooler weather and the open spaces to run. Wiley quickly learned that if he listened and came when called that he didn’t have to be tied up or on a leash. His recall was wonderful. Wyatt, on the other hand, got so sidetracked by everything that he didn’t listen well. He found himself on leash a good bit of the time. We’re going to need to do some serious recall work with him so he can enjoy a bit more…

Happy 13th Birthday, Munchkin!

Our baby girl is 13. It’s hard to believe we’re parents to a teenager. Munchkin’s requested meals for her birthday from top to bottom all gluten free: homemade french toast sticks with fresh strawberries, turkey sandwich with apple slices, baked mac ‘n cheese with tomato salad, strawberry shortcake in the shape of a heart. Daddy gave Munchkin this ring for her birthday. It’s inscribed with Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Munchkin’s Birthday Cake

Posted in Family, Homemaking, and Photography

Project 365 – #109 As I had stated before, Munchkin requested a carrot cake for her birthday.  I was unable to get my hands on my normal gluten free carrot cake mix (Simply Organic), so I tried a recipe that I found while at the gluten free expo.  The cake tasted good, but was a bit more dense and dry than I prefer.  I think I’ll keep trying for a better gluten free carrot cake from scratch. Munchkin’s current favorite color is blue, so I went with blue candles.  She was excited to the look of the cake as she…
