Our Current Penmanship Curriculum

Posted in Christian Life, and Homeschooling

Since Munchkin completed all 4 books in the Awana T&T curriculum, she will be working on the silver and gold sections in the Awana books this year.  To make things a bit easier for her, I created a workbook for the gold sections in all 4 books. Whenever possible, I like to incorporate Munchkin’s studies in one subject with her penmanship and reading.  For now, her penmanship will be based upon some requirements in her T&T books.  Each book has 4 questions that have 4 answers.  Each answer has at least 1 supporting verse.  For her penmanship, she will be…

This, That, and a Smashed Finger

Posted in Family, and Thoughts

How’s that for a crazy title? On Saturday, while helping D work on his truck, I smashed my finger, so I’m trying to type without the use of my index finger.  Not an easy task. lol!  My finger is red, black and blue and swollen.  The swelling is starting to go down some, so hopefully, I’ll be able to use my finger again in the near future. Award Ceremony

Posted in Christian Life

Last night, Munchkin had her Awana award ceremony.  It’s hard to believe that the year is already over.  The girls had so much fun each week.  We were missing one of the girls in our little group.  It was a bit sad that she wasn’t able to be there for the final week. The award ceremony went really well.  It was fun watching the excitement in the kids faces.  One of my favorite parts of the evening was listening to the verses that the kids chose to read/recite as their favorite verses for the year.

I found some blue fabric and cut out a circle of fabric using pinking sheers.  Then, I cut a center hole for the waist.  I cut a strip of black fabric for a waistband.  Then I find a poodle outline online and cut out a black poodle. …

Getting back into the swing of things…

We homeschool year around.  That means that we can take time off when Daddy is home or when company comes.  It means that we can take time to enjoy the rare desert rain.  It means that we can take a break from our regular school routine when someone calls to tell that there is a reptile presentation at the library that starts in 20 minutes.  We don’t school for a set number of days and call it quits for the year.  We complete the curriculum that we’re doing and then move on to the next year.  That tends to make…
