The truth is something Military Intelligence Operative Dane Markoski has never faced. But now it’s the only thing – along with Talon’s help – that can save him. But working with Talon means teaming u with Aspen as well, and Dane swore he’d never work with a woman.

Eventually they join forces to battle the elements and extremists. But, if Talon can’t rise up to his former glory for one last mission, the only outcome for all three will be game over.

Ronie KendigAbout the Author:

An Army brat, Ronie Kendig grew up in the classic military family, with her father often TDY and her mother holding down the proverbial fort. Their family moved often, which left Ronie attending six schools by the time she’d entered fourth grade. Her only respite and “friends” during this time were the characters she created.

It was no surprise when she married a military veteran—her real-life hero—in June 1990. Married more than twenty years, Ronie and her husband, Brian, homeschool their four children, the first of whom graduated in 2011. Despite the craziness of life, Ronie finds balance and peace with her faith, family and their three dogs in Dallas, TX.

Ronie has a deep love and passion for people, especially hurting people, which is why she pursued and obtained a B.S. in Psychology from Liberty University. Ronie is an active member of the American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) and has volunteered extensively, serving in a variety of capacities from coordinator of a national contest to appointment assistant at the national annual conference.

Since launching onto the publishing scene, Ronie’s Rapid-Fire Fiction has hit the CBA Bestseller List, won the prestigious Christy Award, named to 2012 Bestselling Fiction by Christianbook.com, finaled in numerous contests and reader awards, including ACFW Carol Awards, RWA’s Faith, Hope, & Love’s Inspirational Readers’ Choice Awards, Christian Retailing’s Readers’ Choice Awards, INSPY Award, The Christian Manifesto Lime Awards, and FamilyFiction’s Readers’ Choice Awards.

My Thoughts:

I’ve enjoyed all of Ronie’s books in the past, so I was thoroughly looked forward to the second book in the A Breed Apart series, Talon. It did not disappoint, and it lead to another late night of reading as I didn’t want to put it down. Ronie has a real gift for making the characters and story come to life. Her writing is vivid and believable.

In Talon, we are introduced to Dane Markoski – an intelligence officer who has a past that he’s trying to hide. He too wants to find Aspen’s brother, Austin, but for different reasons than Aspen. When he finds out that Aspen is a female, he’s not sure that he wants to go through with the plan, but he’s not really given a choice in the matter. Aspen is thrilled that someone is finally willing to help her look for her brother who is MIA, but she’s concerned that Talon may not be up for the task at hand. The others at A Breed Apart Ranch do not trust Dane, so they are concerned about Aspen and Talon. It’s a crazy situation that is about to get dangerous for everyone involved.

Talon is an action packed drama filled with twists and turns, unexpected plots, and a little bit of romance that grabs your attention and keeps it to the final pages of the book. It’s yet another great book by Ronie Kendig. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series, Beowulf.

I received a copy of this book from the author. A review was not expected. All opinions are my own.
