Munchkin’s 14th Birthday

Originally, we had planned on heading to the cabin to celebrate Munchkin’s birthday, but Daddy’s work kind of put a wrench in that plan. When I got up, I started the second phase of making Munchkin’s ice cream cake. (I had baked the cake on Wednesday, so it would be completely cool as you can’t have even remotely warm cake when making an ice cream cake.)

Gluten Free Baked Mac 'n Cheese

Munchkin requested gluten free baked mac ‘n cheese for lunch which meant a quick trip to the store for milk. πŸ˜‰ Because I knew that I would be taking Munchkin to TaeKwonDo later in the day, I decided it was best to make the mac ‘n cheese for lunch. (She ended up happily eating it for both lunch and supper.)

When Daddy came home for a quick lunch, we had her open her gifts. She had asked for art supplies, music, and Legos. Thanks to some good bargains that I found, she was able to receive all three things. Of course, after opening her presents, she immediately started putting together her new Lego set. Daddy headed back to work.

After she was done with her Legos, we headed out to pick up her final birthday present – a horse print for her room. We also ran a couple of errands and picked her up a drink from Sonic – one of her favorite places to get a drink. There is just something about their ice that makes it better. πŸ˜‰

One of her grandma’s called after we got home, so Munchkin talked with her for a bit while I finished up her cake. I wanted it to be a surprise, so this gave me the perfect opportunity to slip off and get it done with no peaking eyes. πŸ™‚

After talking to gramma, Munchkin decided that she wanted to try out some of her new art supplies and began on working on some of her sketches.

It wasn’t long before we needed to head over to TaeKwonDo. Munchkin was surprised when they sang happy birthday to her at the beginning of class. After class, I talked briefly with the instructor as he brought up her starting with sparring and weapons training. (She hadn’t decided if she wanted to do this yet or not, but now that she’s a green belt, it’s an option.)

We were a bit bummed that Daddy wasn’t home when we arrived home, but we decided that we’d have a fun evening anyway and put in a movie to watch while we ate. When Daddy finally arrived home, we finished celebrating her birthday with her birthday cake. It was a good day even if it didn’t turn out exactly as expected.
