ShapelyGirl Fitness Team

ShapelyGirl Let's Get Moving 2: Cardo Toning with WeightsI have joined up with some other ladies from the CWA Review team to form a ShapelyGirl exercise group for the month of October. Each Friday during October, I’m going to post updates on how I’ve done for the week as a way to be held accountable. My final post will be on November 2, 2012 where I will wrap everything up and talk about my experience with the ShapelyGirl Fitness program.

Before I get into my reasons behind joining this group, I want to tell you a little bit about ShapelyGirl Fitness. ShapelyGirl Fitness founder Debra Mazda M.Ed created ShapelyGirl Fitness™ as an effective, safe, fun and energizing program to help women of all sizes move, breathe and feel great. ShapelyGirl Fitness combines aerobic conditioning, strength training, and a “circle time” motivational ending to create an atmosphere of positive thinking about your body, your health, your fitness. These fitness dvds feature regular women who are getting fit. It’s not about your size. It’s about feeling great about your body and getting fit. It’s about changing your lifestyle and taking care of your body.

Going into this, we were asked to make sure that we were willing to commit to being part of this team because the team aspect – supporting each other – does help build each other up, encourage each other, and keep us accountable. Part of this commitment is working out 3 times a week with the dvd we chose. I chose to use the ShapelyGirl Let’s Get Moving! 2, Cardio Toning with Weights DVD for my program. Can I admit that I’m a little nervous because I tend to start off strong, but something inevitably comes along and throws me off track (usual an illness).

While D was down with his back issues, I lost some of my fitness edge because we weren’t out there doing physical activities like normal. I also lost some of my motivation because I didn’t have an immediate goal such as get in shape so I can do such and such with the family. Well, D is slowly building his muscle and core strength up so we can do more things. Guess what! That means that I need to really start to get myself back in shape so I can keep up with my husband and daughter. (Munchkin is participating in TaeKwonDo 3 times a week which helps with her fitness level.) We want to do some serious hiking once it cools down around here which means that I need to get back into shape.

For me, this really is more about fitness than it is about losing weight. Yes, I have some weight that I need to lose, and I could use some toning in certain areas. I figure if I focus on fitness and eating healthy, the weight/fat issue will address itself. I’ll never get back to my pre-Munchkin days as my body has changed too much, and I’m totally okay with that. What I’m not okay with is having to sit on the sidelines or hold Munchkin and/or D back when we go hiking/exploring. I want to be able to hold my own, so we can have fun as a family. I want to make sure that I’m honoring the Lord in all that I do, and that includes honoring Him by taking care of the body that He has given me.

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. ~Philippians 4:13~

Want to meet the other ladies on the CWA ShapelyGirl Fitness Team? Head on over to their blogs to get to know each of the ladies and join them on their journey. We have ladies of all shapes, sizes, fitness levels, and walks of life. Would you be willing to pray for our team as we strive to get fit physically, mentally, and spiritually? Each week, I’ll be hosting a linky where the ladies can link up their blog posts for the week. Since we will all be posting on different days, you’ll want to check back in throughout the week to encourage each of us on our ShapelyGirl Fitness journey.

    • Thanks Mel! I think it’s important to develop new habits that we know that we can maintain for life and that’s never easy.

  1. I love that you asked for prayer for the whole team. Accountability and a goal are already making this different from prior attempts.
