Character Studies

Open Bible Proverbs 31

For Bible this year, we’re going to be using the Keepers of the Faith Write Upon My Heart Character Curriculum as our spine. Since there are 18 books in the series, I asked Daddy to place them in the order in which he would like Munchkin to study them. Now I’m in the process of creating notebooking pages for each book in the series. (The books can be written in, but since I plan on adding more to the studies, I wanted to create notebooking pages for Munchkin to use. It will also create a nice keepsake for the future.)

As I create the notebooking pages, I’ll add them to this page in case someone else would like to use them as well. (Images will be clickable once the pages are available for download.) They are simple pages in a journal style that include a daily journal for Munchkin to record how she is doing with the character trait. The 31 day journal is set up to help her form new, better habits with each character trait. (It might not be a bad idea for me to do this study with her as I know that I could certainly use some work in several of these areas.) This is the order that Daddy chose for Munchkin’s studies:
Determination Journal Notebooking Pages Respectfulness Journal Notebooking Pages

3. Obedience

4. Courage

5. Patience

6. Modesty

7. Honesty

8. Willingness

9. Diligence

10. Contentment

11. Truthfulness

12. Meekness

13. Charity

14. Compassion

15. Cheerfulness

16. Kindness

17. Forgiveness

18. Wisdom

The theme verse for this series is “Write them upon the table of thine heart.” Proverbs 7:3.

Because the goal of these studies is to make character improvements and lay a sound Biblical foundation for why these character traits are important, we’ll be moving at whatever pace Munchkin feels she needs to go to get the most out of the studies. I’m sure there will be some of these traits that will be studied more in-depth than others. I look forward to seeing how the Lord directs these studies and watching how we both grow during the process.

If you’re looking for free character studies, here are a few places to start:

Some of these lessons are geared more towards younger children while others are focused more on older children. Most (if not all) can be adapted to fit a variety of age groups. Please note that I have not thoroughly looked over all of these resources. I always recommend checking the resources before giving them to your child to make sure they line up with your family beliefs.

If you know of other free character studies resources out there, let me know, and I’ll add them to the list.

  1. Thank you for sharing this post. I’ve been looking for a good character study and can’t find one that will stick. I’m going to check out this one and some of the freebies (since the budget’s a bit tight right now- 🙂 )
