Review & Giveaway: My Memories Suite

Posted in Reviews

My Memories Suite I am not a true scrapbooker. Oh, I have lots of scrapbook papers and stamps and decorative scissors and brads and…  You get the idea.  Yet, I don’t seem to find time to actually do the scrapbooking.  It’s not for lack of pictures because I have tons of those – on my computer and external hard drive.  You see where I’m going with this?  I’m definitely a digital, computer image type of person.  I’m much happier working with digital pictures and images than I am with the physical, hard copies.

My sister, an avid scrapbooker, has told me for years that I should just take up digital scrapbooking as that is right up my ally.  Alas, I never really got around to that until recently.  You see, I got the opportunity to review the My Memories Suite digital scrapbooking software, and I’ve been having a little too much fun playing with the program.  Thankfully, they have lots of great freebies over at the My Memories website which allowed me to really jump into playing with the program.  You saw the Daddy’s Girl page that I put up yesterday?  Some of those elements were freebies while others were from the cowboy package which I was able to pick up free thanks to the My Memories facebook gift.

While the program was fairly easy for me to use, it’s nice to know that they offer many free tutorials if I get stuck with certain aspects of the using the program.  Another cool thing about their scrapbook papers, pages, elements is that they can be downloaded either to use directly in the My Memories Suite or for use in your favorite photo editing program.

You know that I enjoy putting together my own unit studies, notebooking pages, lapbooks, and all those other goodies for school, so I decided to see what I could do with the program for those purposes.  (I like it when a program can be used for multiple tasks.)  I started out to create some fun animal fact note cards, but I ended up side-tracked by some cute guinea pig pictures.  Munchkin and I decided to make a scrapbook page of the for the guinea pig babies from the pictures when they were first born.

Okay, now that I was done being side-tracked – for now – I set off to create a notebook cover for our photography class notebook.  This gave me an opportunity to try out several different features in the program.  I really liked the ease of layering the various components on the pages.  Finding the different pieces that I wanted wasn’t always an easy task due to the way that the papers are sorted, but I’m sure that I’ll get use to that in time.  Munchkin was happy with the end result, but she commented that I really should have used blue and brown instead of green and brown.  lol!  (Her favorite color combination right now is blue and brown.)

Overall, I’m impressed with this software and like the flexibility that it offers.  I also appreciate the freebies that they offer on the website.  The sale prices and even the regular prices make scrapbooking affordable.  Plus, the digital scrapbook supplies take up less space.  **wink**  The people over at My Memories have kindly offered my readers a nice discount code that will allow you to receive $10 off the purchase price as well as receive a $10 coupon to use in the My Memories store.  Just enter STMMMS92830 to receive your discount and coupon – a $20 value.  I highly recommend following My Memories on facebook as they offer some specials and freebies for their fans.
