Review and Giveaway: The Grace Card

Do you have the courage to play the grace card?

the grace card

A family tragedy leaves a family broken and struggling to cope with life even many years after the heart-breaking loss.  Officer Mac McDonald struggles with grief and pain compounded by the bitterness of too many years of holding onto the past and pushing aside healing.  Sgt. Sam Wright is a police officer who is also a pastor.  He feels called to the ministry, but life’s circumstances lead him to begin to doubt his calling.  When the two are partnered up, they struggle to get along and working together in not easy to say the least.  Will the two be able to help each other find healing and God’s grace in their lives?

The Grace Card is a moving faith-based film which touches on some tough topics such as racism, loss of a child, loss of faith, drug use (briefly)….  It’s a wonderful reminder that grace should be lived out in our lives and not just given lip service.  It’s easy to love and give grace to the lovable, but loving the unlovable and giving grace to those who are less than deserving is where God’s love can really shine through us.  At times the film does move a bit slow, but the powerful message outweighs any issues we had with that.  When watching the film, the viewer needs to keep in mind that this is not a high-dollar, Hollywood movie.  It’s a movie that was sponsored by a church (think Facing the Giants).  That being said, the film is put together and does not have the feel of a low-budget movie.

The music in this film is wonderful.  We especially enjoyed “Healing Begins” by Tenth Avenue North.  Overall, we enjoyed the movie and look forward to watching it again as a family.  (D and I watched it together without Munchkin the first time.)

Due to some of the topics covered in this film, parents may wish to view this prior to viewing together as a family.  Younger children may have difficulty with some of the material.

“The Chronicles of Narnia” series include some of my favorite movies, but I recently saw the film “The Potential Inside” which was one of the best Christian-made films I’ve seen in a long time. Highly recommended to check out on their website. =)

Thanks for the chance to win “The Grace Card”!
