Review: The Organized Home Schooler

Posted in Reviews

Organized Home SchoolerWhen you’re trying to balance everyday life with homeschooling, things can, and do, get rather crazy.  Organization is a must, but sometimes it’s hard to wrap your head around how to even start getting organized – especially as someone who is new to homeschooling.

Vicki Caruana takes a good hard look at organizing your homeschool.  She tells you up front that everyone’s system of organization is going to look slightly different.  What works in one home won’t necessarily work in another home.  Each person needs to figure out exactly what it’s going to take to get their home school organized.

After getting that information out of the way, Vicki delves into how to go about getting that organization into place.  She breaks everything down into manageable pieces.  Each chapter covers a different organization topic such organizing your thoughts, organizing your time, organizing your space, and so on.  Ideas are given for each of the topics to help you get your wheels turning on how to implement the new organizational system into your own home.

While the information in the book isn’t necessarily new information, it’s presented in a fresh, easy to follow format.  I feel this book is best suited for new homeschoolers, but it would also be good for homeschoolers who are feeling a little overwhelmed and want help pulling things together.  (Side note: This was one of the books that I read when we first started homeschooling, and I found it helpful during those early homeschooling years.)

  1. I’m so glad you reviewed and posted this. I’m checking this book out from the library. This sounds like just the book I need right now, as I am preparing for our first homeschooling year with 3 kiddos, who will be ages 4, 6, and 8.
    God bless you, Heather.
