Old Fashion Fun with a Twist

Posted in Homemaking

One of the fun things about having a birthday at the end of October is that I can save that birthday money to purchase something in November during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales.  This year, I decided to take advantage of an exceptional offer at JoAnn Fabrics on a Cricut personal cutter.  Munchkin didn’t know what to think of it all until she saw all of the many things that we could create – including paper dolls. My sister had me pick up 2 paper doll cartridges for her machine while I was at JoAnn Fabrics on Friday for her…

Staying Happily Busy

Posted in Family, Holidays, and Homeschooling

The holiday season is upon us.  For Munchkin and I that means that we set aside many of the normal schooling items and begin with the fun Christmas unit studies and activities.  It also means that we have started our Advent activities. Yesterday, Sunday, was the first day of Advent.  This year, we will be reading Bartholomew’s Passage in the evenings as a family.  On December 1st, we’ll start to add in different activities including our Advent calendar. Today was filled with decorating.  Munchkin decorated the tree again this year.  (Picture to be posted later.)  She did a great job again.  Several of the nativity scenes are now up, and a few more have yet to find their homes for the holidays.  Christmas music fills the air.  As per our crazy tradition, we watched Jingle All the Way while decorating.  I’m not exactly sure how this tradition started, but it did several years ago. I was able to get a few things decorated outside.  Munchkin and I worked on a fun project while we watched the football game. …

A Lovely Thanksgiving Day

Posted in Family, and Holidays

We had a lovely Thanksgiving Day filled with fun, food, family, and relaxing.  I got up early to get the turkeys in the oven.  While I totally enjoy preparing a full feast for my family, I do not enjoy getting up early. lol!  Soon the house was filled with the tantalizing aroma of herb roasted turkey and all of the fixings. Once the food was ready, Munchkin helped set the table.  We sat down and said our thanks and prayer.  Quickly the plates were being filled with delicious gluten free food.  All too soon, our tummies felt like they would…
