Promise of a Lifetime

Posted in Christian Life

Promise of a Lifetime by Kutlass I have fallen to my knees As I sing a lullaby of pain I’m feeling broken in my melody As I sing to help the tears go away Then I remember the pledge you made to me I know you’re always there To hear my every prayer inside I’m clinging to the promise of a lifetime I hear the words you say To never walk away from me and leave behind The promise of a lifetime Will you help me fall apart Pick me up, take me in your arms Find my way back…

Heading to India

Posted in Family, and Homeschooling

Currently, we’re doing a study on India, so Munchkin decided that she wanted to try to go with a traditional India costume.  We headed over to the thrift store to see what we could find.  We were able to pick up a shirt and pants for Munchkin as well as myself. (We’re going to be doing a Indian dinner and will be dressing up for that, so I picked up an outfit for myself while we were out.)  I found a head scarf for myself, but we couldn’t find one for Munchkin.  I decided to rip apart a skirt to…

Fit Mommy Friday: Challenge Week 1

Posted in Fitness

I had a pretty good week when it came to my challenge goals.  I was surprised by the fact that eating enough veggies was the one thing that I really had to try to get done this week.  I love veggies – all kinds, so it was puzzling that I struggled with getting enough veggies each day.  Then again, it could have something to do with the fact that we’ve been enjoying more fruit (kiwi, strawberries, seedless oranges) this week. Overall, I’ve cut down on sweets, but I did have cheesecake twice this week.  I made a healthier version of…

Having Fun with Yuck!!!

Let me introduce you to some fun play with polymers.  What’s a polymer?  Well, that’s one of the things that we learned about when we started our experiments with our 4 types of Yuck from Buckets-O-Fun! Polymers are very large molecules formed by repeated patterns of chemical units strung together. Yuck is an acrylic polymer.  We had the chance to test out the four types of Yuck: Chunky (like ice cubes) Saucy (like applesauce) Sticky (um, like snot) Snowy (like light, bubbly snow) The samples we received came in four little labeled baggies.  The saucy, sticky, and snowy Yuck looked…

Leading by Example

Posted in Christian Life, Family, and Homemaking

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 The older Munchkin gets, the more I realize that I need to lead more by example and not just in words.  I need to make sure she understands what we believe and why we believe it.  I am trying to teach her to not only hide God’s Word in her heart, but also dig into the Word to gain a better understanding of all that is being presented to us as Christians. Not only do I need…
