Campfires and Smores

Sitting Around the Campfire

Campfires and Smores – the two go hand-in-hand don’t you think?  The dark, star-filled sky twinkles overhead.  The flames crackle and hiss as they lick at the slightly damp firewood that we just collected.  The smell of the smoke from the fire wafts over those sitting around the fire.

Campfire

As the fire dies down, Daddy stirs the coals.  Munchkin grins as she knows what’s coming when the coals are ready. Mommy heads to get the marshmellows, chocolate, gluten free graham crackers, and roasting sticks.

Glowing Embers

The embers glow and a hint of excitement fills Munchkin’s eyes.  It’s time for smores.  We roast the marshmallows over the fire until they are just right.  Carefully, we take the marshmallows of the hot, metal skewers and place them between some chocolate and graham crackers.

Munchkin takes the first bite and the gooey marshmallow along with some of the melted chocolate ooze out from the graham cracker.  The chocolate and marshmallow are all over her face as is a look of pure delight.

Mmmm… Yep! Campfires and Smores definitely go hand-in-hand.
