King Arthur Flour Gluten Free Products Review and Giveaway

gluten free bread mixKing Arthur Flour is known for their high quality flour and baking ingredients.  When we went gluten free, I thought that I would never be using King Arthur products again.  Imagine my surprise (and delight) when I found out that King Arthur Flour, a company known for their wheat products, was now going to be offering a full gluten free line-up of  products including their very own flour blend!  I was beyond excited that we would be able to test out this new gluten free product line.

The gluten free products are processed in certified allergen-free facility, free of the top 8 food allergens.gluten free pizza

The first thing we tested was the pizza crust mix.  It was easy to mix, and it smelled like real bread dough.  It actually rose like real bread.  It was a very soft dough, so you had to spread it instead of roll it.  The delicious aroma that came from the oven as it was baking made us eager for the pizza to be done.  The real test came with the first bite.  Would it taste as good as it smelled?  I am pleased to say that yes – it was great!  It has a slight chew to it and had a nice crust on the outside.

Thegluten free cake next mix to try was the gluten free bread mix.  As most people who are gluten free know, most gluten free bread is less than desirable.  This bread was easy to make.  It tasted good both toasted and untoasted.  It worked for sandwiches and toast.  It did not get all crumbling like most gluten free bread.  I made this bread exactly as directly.  In the future, I would add some seasoning as it was a little bland for us.  (I usually add seasoning in our breads, so this is in no way a negative statement.)

Cookies anyone?  The next mix is a base cookie mix.  You provide your own add-ins to create the cookies that you want.  Once again, these were easy to make.  I just added chocolate chips to make chocolate chip cookies.  These did not last long at all because they were delicious.  They were crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside.  Delicious!gluten free cookie

I used the chocolate cake mix to make Munchkin’s cupcakes for her birthday.  These were a hit for everyone.  The girls were surprised they were gluten free.  They were very moist and filled with chocolate goodness.  The amazing thing – a week later they were still moist and delicious!

gluten free muffinD made up the pancakes from the pancake mix.  The batter was a bit thinner than he was use to, so he wasn’t sure how they would turn out.  The pancakes themselves tasted delicious, but they were a little on the thin side.  We prefer thick, fluffy pancakes.  This is just a preference thing.

Another breakfast treat was the muffin mix.  Just like the cookie mix, this is a base mix.  You can add whatever ingredients you want to create your favorite muffins.  I added blueberries for a moist, delicious blueberry muffin.  One unique thing with this mix is that it contain nutmeg which lends a whole different depth of flavor to the muffins.  We all really enjoyed these, so they did not last long.gluten free pancake

Our final mix to enjoy was the brownie mix.  I decided to make these in muffin tins and added in white chocolate and macadamia nuts.  The result was a moist, chewy brownie.  The brownies have a rich chocolate flavor, so a little goes a long way.

gluten free flourIn addition to the mixes, King Arthur Flour offers their signature gluten free flour blend, so you can create your own goodies.  We were very impressed with the whole gluten free line-up of mixes and flour.  We can recommend all of the products without reserve.  The mixes are available online for $6.95 each.
