Storehouse Foods Review and Giveaway

Storehouse Foods - Gluten Free Line

Storehouse Foods - Gluten Free Line

Storehouse Foods offers high quality, freeze-dried food systems with options for budgets of all sizes and expert advice on emergency preparedness. I was thrilled to find that they also offer a complete line of gluten free products. While I do believe it’s important to have products on hand for emergencies, my motive behind wanting these products has more to do with having easy to prepare and transport foods for D when he’s away at training or on deployments.

We were given the opportunity to try out some of their gluten free products. When they arrived, D informed me that he had received some of these when he was deployed, and they were great. Since he was getting ready to head on a trip, he took two meals with him. Here are his reviews…

Creamy Potato Cheddar Soup: Soup was very easy to make. Recommends using boiling water, but hot water (such as out of a coffee maker) will do if needed. Be sure to thoroughly mix in the water otherwise you will have clumps of the dry mix. The soup had a very good flavor and the texture can be adjusted based on how long you let it sit after pouring the water in. The cheddar flavor adds nicely to the soup and gives it a smooth flavor. The best thing about this meal is the packaging, making this portable to wherever travels may take you.

Black Bart Chili with Beans: As with all the store house foods, this was easy to make. However, when I made this meal using hot water the beans did not soak up the water. I believe using boiling water would take care of this. Even with this, the chili had a good flavor with a minor kick to it. The texture was a little coarse, but again, I think the boiling water may smooth this out.

D definitely recommends the Storehouse Foods products and looks forward to trying out more products from their gluten free line.  Many of the products from Storehouse Foods would be wonderful for deployed troops.
